Chinese New Year/Valentines/Birthdays = Red

What are the odds that the very first time St. Valentines day was dedicated occured at the same time as the Chinese New Year back in AD 496? What are the odds that Pope Gelasius I inquired the best time to have Valentines and in some way fumbled across some people about to celebrate CNY and thought "Well, how about celebrating it the same time as them, next week Saturday?". According to a calculation some bored reporter decided to do its the third time both holidays landed on the same date since 1900 (Citation). Reason: Red colors are common on both occasions...a little bit too common.

According to Chinese Mythology, they've got red coz some monster called Nian (Nián shòu年兽) *coughduriancough* attacked some villages annually sometime around spring - CNY to attack people. An old man eventually showed up when people were running to the mountains *screams*. Seems like he knew what happened there every year so he decided he'd get a house for the night while the neighbourhood ran for the hills. When Nian came up to grab dinner, he found the village covered in red papers with calligraphies hanging from the door of one of the houses and was brightly lit. He was like "The hell is this?!?". Curiosity got the best of him and as he got closer, some firecrackers exploded in his face and he ran back to wherever he...she...it *what gender exactly is Nian refered to?!?* So that's how some of the CNY celebrations came about. Apart from keeping Nian and company away, red is also considered as the lucky color and a significance of wealth.

As for valentine's Red color, must have come from the arrows cupid shot those innocent fellas...

Here are a couple of shots I took at mid-valley lion dance:

Poor white dragon crew fell. "They are trained pro's. they can't fall" Nick

So the dragon's should be scared of color red, yet they are red in color....

This is going to be a long one. Sit down kids and read the blog of what happened in the past few days.

Part 1: FIFA WORLD CUP TROPHY- Mid valley

The price of two prosperity burgers:

Me and Nicholas went to check out to see the trophy when it came to town. Most of the areas were no flash photography zones

Adidas FeverNova...official 2002 match ball. Fell in love with this ball back then.

Adidas Jabulani...the 2010 ball...she a beauty.

This was the closest I could get to taking a photo of the FIFA world cup before being told "No flash photography" by the organizers. I wanted to get a close photo but I stopped once I saw this guy...The Guard. Kevlar vest, Glock on the holster, mirror shades, and a John Casey growl....nothing was gonna get past this guy....except for a photo op ("Everyone notices the cup but no one notice me?!? Hell, I'll smile for this kid!!"

I was trying to get a reflection of the cup from his tints but he kinda noticed and angled away ><...Note to self: Save for a spy camera

Part 2: IGDA Game Jam 2010

This blog is for a close ally of mine who has seen me through several events and has now lost his sight after falling down. Omondi (Terri's D60), fell and the lens snapped into 3 parts. Luckily, his body has no damage but I'll take him to Nikon PJ for a checkup...as for his new sight....It's going to be a hole in my wallet....and back to Kodey (my Kodak C813) for a long while. This is how the damage looks like:
